How much does a dental implant cost? What the price includes, full-arch implants, the NFZ and tax relief

The price of a dental implant is the sum of several stages: consultation, CT scan, placement, uncovering and the crown, and sometimes also a tooth extraction and bone rebuilding. This article explains what makes up the cost, what the individual items in the clinic’s price list cost, what full-arch implants cost and which rules apply to the NFZ and to tax.

How much does a dental implant with a crown cost?

A dental implant with a crown has no single price, because treatment consists of several stages: diagnosis, placement of the implant, uncovering it and making the crown on the abutment. The question of how much an implant costs therefore usually concerns the whole treatment, from the CT scan to the finished tooth, not just the titanium screw.

In the price list of DentalBlue in Białystok, placing an implant costs 3 500 zł and a zirconia crown on an implant also 3 500 zł. These two items alone come to 7 000 zł; on top of them come a consultation, a CT scan and usually uncovering of the implant, and in some cases a tooth extraction or bone rebuilding.

That is why, with any figure, it is worth checking which stages it covers. The dentist sets the final scope and cost after the examination and CT scan, and the prices in the clinic’s price list may change.

What does the full price of an implant include?

The full price of an implant covers everything that has to be done so that a tooth you can bite with appears where the missing tooth was. Some stages are always needed, and some only when the condition of the bone, or of a tooth that has to be removed, requires it.

The restoration itself has three parts: the implant, a screw placed in the bone where the root used to be, the abutment that emerges above the gum, and the crown. An analysis of the costs of implant treatment in private practice broke them down in exactly this way: number of visits, working time, implant components and laboratory work (Brägger et al., 2005).

What does an implant cost in the DentalBlue price list?

In the DentalBlue price list, the basic items for treating one tooth with an implant are an implant consultation (300 zł), a CT scan of one jaw (300 zł), implant placement (3 500 zł), uncovering the implant (300 zł) and a zirconia crown on the implant (3 500 zł). The check-up after implant surgery is listed at 0 zł.

Added together, these five items come to 7 900 zł. This is an illustrative sum for a straightforward case, without a tooth extraction or bone rebuilding, not a quotation: a specific plan may leave out one of the stages or include additional ones. The abutment does not appear in the price list as a separate item, and what each item covers is set out in the written treatment plan.

In selected situations the implant is placed immediately after the tooth is removed and a temporary crown is fixed on it. The item “Implantacja natychmiastowa z koroną tymczasową druk 3D” (immediate implant placement with a 3D printed temporary crown) costs 5 000 zł, and the permanent crown is fitted after healing. Whether this protocol is possible is assessed by the dentist on the CT scan.

What does the price of an implant depend on, and why are implants expensive?

The price of an implant depends above all on how many stages a particular case requires: on the number of implants, the condition of the bone and whether a tooth first has to be removed. The cost also includes things the patient does not see, namely the implant components, the work of the dental laboratory and the number of visits.

In a Swiss cost analysis (Brägger et al., 2005), a single crown on an implant required an average of 8.1 visits, compared with 4.8 for a three-unit bridge, although the total chairside time was similar. An implant is several procedures spread over months, not a single visit, and a bone graft can significantly raise the cost and lengthen treatment.

The final amount is usually affected by these factors:

  • The number of implants and whether they replace one tooth, several teeth or a whole arch.
  • The amount and quality of bone: bone rebuilding or sinus floor elevation are separate procedures.
  • Removing a tooth before implant placement; in the clinic’s price list a simple extraction of a single-rooted tooth costs 350 zł and of a multi-rooted tooth 500 zł.
  • The implant system and the type of abutment, standard or custom.
  • The crown material and the work of the dental laboratory.
  • Planning on the CT scan, sometimes with a surgical guide, and the number of visits.
  • A temporary restoration for the healing period.
  • The type of anaesthesia: local or, for patients who qualify, general.

How much do full-arch implants cost?

Full-arch implants do not mean an implant in place of every tooth. When all the teeth are missing, a few implants are usually placed and a denture held on snap attachments, or a bridge, is supported on them; the cost depends mainly on the number of implants and on whether the restoration is removable or fixed.

For the toothless lower jaw, the McGill consensus (2002) regarded a denture on two implants as the first-choice treatment, and the York consensus (2009) as the minimum standard that should suffice for most people (Thomason et al., 2012). In the upper jaw at least 4 implants are usually needed, ideally connected by a bar (Raghoebar et al., 2014).

In the clinic’s price list, “Proteza na 2 implantach” (denture on 2 implants) costs 10 000 zł and “Proteza na 4 implantach” (denture on 4 implants) 16 000 zł. A fixed full-arch bridge on implants has no single item in the price list, so its cost follows from the individual plan. Neither price includes the implants themselves: each “Wszczepienie implantu” (implant placement) is a separate item at 3 500 zł, and the dentist sets out the full scope in the treatment plan.

Dentures on two or four implants improve quality of life, but they cost more than conventional complete dentures (Beikler and Flemmig, 2015). The attachment parts wear and are replaced periodically, and how often depends on the system and the patient.

Are implants available on the NFZ?

Implants are not funded by the NFZ: they are not among the guaranteed services, so implant treatment in Poland is paid for in full. The list of dental services contains no implant, abutment, crown on an implant or bridge, and the only similar-sounding service is replantation, that is, putting a knocked-out tooth back into its socket.

For adults, the NFZ funds acrylic dentures: partial dentures when 5 to 8 or more than 8 teeth are missing in an arch, and complete dentures, no more often than once every 5 years, as well as a denture supported on retained roots that have had root canal treatment. The exception for people who have had a tumour surgically removed from the facial skeleton concerns how often dentures can be made, not implants.

The legal basis is the Minister of Health regulation on guaranteed dental treatment services (consolidated text, Dz.U. 2025 poz. 615); legal position as of 12 October 2026. A separate article sets out in full what the NFZ funds at the dentist.

Can implants be deducted from tax?

As a rule, the cost of implants cannot be deducted from tax, because Polish income tax (PIT) has no general relief for dental treatment. The only route is the rehabilitation relief, available to a person with an orzeczenie o niepełnosprawności (an official disability certificate) or to a taxpayer who supports such a person, and only for expenses on the closed list in Article 26(7a) of the PIT Act.

Of that list, implants may fall under the point on buying individual equipment and devices needed for rehabilitation and making everyday activities easier, in line with the needs arising from the disability (Article 26(7a)(3)). The tax authorities assess this case by case, and rulings by the Director of National Tax Information (KIS) have gone both ways.

An individual tax ruling protects only the taxpayer who applied for it, and only in the facts they described, so it is worth consulting a tax adviser before filing. Legal position as of 12 October 2026 (PIT Act, consolidated text, Dz.U. 2026 poz. 592). The rulings repeat the same conditions:

  • A disability certificate covering the period in which the expense was incurred.
  • A documented link between the restoration and the disability, for example in a specialist doctor’s opinion.
  • An invoice describing what was paid for.
  • No funding or reimbursement of the cost from public money, for example from the NFZ or PFRON (the State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons).

How much does it cost to look after an implant after treatment?

Looking after an implant costs as much as caring for your own teeth: daily hygiene, check-ups and professional cleaning at the surgery. An implant does not decay, but the gum and bone around it can become diseased if plaque builds up, which is why regular check-ups are part of the treatment, not an extra.

Over time the crown may need repair: the ceramic can chip and the screw can loosen. That is prosthetic work, not loss of the implant. In the clinic’s price list, “Kompleksowa higienizacja (skaling, piaskowanie, fluoryzacja)” (complete hygiene treatment: scaling, air polishing, fluoride) costs 350 zł. What the lifespan of an implant depends on is described in a separate article on whether implants last a lifetime.

How an implant is priced at DentalBlue

At DentalBlue in Białystok, implants are planned on a CBCT image from the clinic’s own radiology unit, so the bone measurement and the quotation are produced in one place. A patient without pain can start with a “Wizyta bez bólu” (visit without pain: panoramic X-ray, consultation, examination and written treatment plan, 300 zł), and a patient in pain with a “Wizyta z bólem” (visit in pain, 340 zł). Implant placement and bone rebuilding are carried out under local anaesthesia or, for patients who qualify, under general anaesthesia. The plan lists the stages in order with their prices; the final scope and cost are set at the consultation, and prices may change. A consultation can be booked by phone.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the implant alone cost, without a crown?

In the DentalBlue price list, the item “Wszczepienie implantu” (implant placement) costs 3 500 zł. That, however, is only one stage: to end up with a tooth you also need diagnosis, usually uncovering of the implant (300 zł) and a crown on the abutment, listed as “Korona cyrkonowa na implancie” (zirconia crown on an implant) at 3 500 zł.

Does a front tooth implant cost the same as a molar implant?

The clinic’s price list does not distinguish implants by the position of the tooth: placement and the crown on the implant are the same items. Differences in the cost of the whole treatment come from the conditions at the site, for example the amount of bone, the need to rebuild it or the possibility of immediate implant placement.

How many implants are needed when several teeth next to each other are missing?

Usually fewer than the number of missing teeth, because a bridge can be supported on implants and replace several teeth at once. The dentist decides the number and position of the implants on the CT scan, depending on the length of the gap and the amount of bone.

Is a CT scan needed before an implant?

At DentalBlue, implants are planned on a CBCT image, which shows the height and width of the bone and the position of the nerve and sinus. In the clinic’s price list, a CT scan of the upper or lower jaw costs 300 zł, and of both arches 350 zł.

Does the price of an implant include check-ups?

In the DentalBlue price list, the check-up after implant surgery is priced at 0 zł. Later regular check-ups and professional cleaning are separate visits, needed for as long as the implant is in use, because the tissues around it need the same care as those around your own teeth.
