In the NFZ search tool “Gdzie się leczyć” (Where to get treatment), it is the only place providing emergency dental care in the whole of the Podlaskie province. The provider is listed there as PAŁAC NA WODZIE FALKOWSKI, and the centre as “BIAŁYSTOK-CZĘSTOCHOWSKA”.
The details come from the NFZ search tool and the website of the NFZ Podlaskie Regional Branch, as of 12.10.2026. The contract for this type of service runs from 1 January to 31 December 2026, and the list of centres may change at the next tender, so before setting off check the current details in the NFZ search tool or call the centre.
According to the NFZ search tool, there is parking on site, a wheelchair ramp and a toilet adapted for people with disabilities, but no lift.
What are the opening hours of the emergency dental service in Białystok?
The emergency dental service in Białystok operates on weekdays from 19:00 to 7:00 the following morning, and around the clock on Saturdays and Sundays (as of 12.10.2026). What can be dealt with at the night dental service?
Emergency dental care on the NFZ is for relieving pain and getting an urgent condition under control, not for complete treatment of the tooth. The same limits apply as in ordinary NFZ treatment: for adults, root canal treatment covers only incisors and canines, and further treatment, such as rebuilding the tooth, usually continues at a dental practice during the day.
Annex 9 to the regulation on guaranteed dental treatment services (consolidated text Dz.U. 2025 item 615) includes, among other things:
- Anaesthesia and pain relief.
- Opening a dead tooth and placing a dressing.
- Tooth extraction.
- Incision of an abscess.
- Treatment of a luxated (displaced) tooth after an injury, in the basket since 2025.
Is the emergency dental service free, and do you need a referral?
Emergency dental care at a centre with an NFZ contract is free for people entitled to publicly funded care and does not require a referral, because no referral is needed to see a dentist (Article 57(2)(2) of the Act on publicly funded healthcare services). Legal position as of 12 October 2026.
During the day there is no need to wait for the night service: a dentist with an NFZ contract helps a patient who comes in with pain on the same day (§ 6 of the regulation). The free NFZ helpline 800 190 590, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, can help you find a facility with a contract.
When should you go to the SOR or call 112 with toothache?
You should go to the hospital emergency department (SOR) or call 112, the emergency number, when symptoms may threaten life or risk serious harm to health, not simply when a tooth hurts badly. Toothache on its own, even severe, is not a reason to go to the SOR: at night the right place is the emergency dental care centre, and during the day a dentist with an NFZ contract.
The State Emergency Medical Services Act describes a state of sudden health threat as a sudden deterioration in health, or one expected within a short time, that may result in serious impairment of bodily functions, bodily injury or loss of life (Article 3(8)). A fever with increasing facial swelling, but without difficulty breathing, needs dental help the same day. According to the NHS, the ADA and hospital guidance, however, the warning signs are:
- Difficulty breathing, swallowing or speaking.
- Swelling that spreads towards the eye, the neck or the floor of the mouth.
- Being unable to open your mouth.
- Bleeding that does not stop after 15 to 20 minutes of firm pressure.
- A fracture of the facial bones, or a head injury with vomiting or loss of consciousness.
Where are the hospital emergency departments in Białystok?
Białystok has three hospital emergency departments (SOR) listed in the NFZ search tool, as of 12.10.2026. Two admit adults and the third is in the children’s hospital. With life-threatening symptoms, do not travel on your own: call 112.
- Uniwersytecki Szpital Kliniczny w Białymstoku (University Clinical Hospital), ul. M. C. Skłodowskiej 24A, 15-276 Białystok: SOR for adults.
- SP ZOZ Wojewódzki Szpital Zespolony im. J. Śniadeckiego (Śniadecki Provincial Hospital), ul. M. Skłodowskiej-Curie 25, 15-950 Białystok: SOR for adults.
- Uniwersytecki Dziecięcy Szpital Kliniczny im. L. Zamenhofa (University Children’s Clinical Hospital), ul. Waszyngtona 17, 15-274 Białystok: SOR in the children’s hospital.

What can you do about toothache before you get to a dentist?
Until your visit you can ease the pain, but you will not remove its cause. The NHS recommends an over-the-counter painkiller taken strictly as directed on the leaflet, soft food, chewing on the other side and avoiding very cold, hot and sweet foods; we cover this in more detail in the article on toothache and dental abscesses. Before setting off for the emergency service:
- Call 85 651 51 70 and confirm that the centre is seeing patients, especially on a public holiday.
- Take an identity document and a list of the medicines you take.
- If there is bleeding, bite on a damp gauze pad and keep up the pressure for 15 to 20 minutes, without checking.
- Hold a knocked-out permanent tooth by the crown and put it back in the socket; if that is not possible, carry it in milk.
- Do not stop anticoagulants on your own; tell the dentist about them, and the decision is made by your treating doctor or the dentist.
How it works at DentalBlue
DentalBlue in Białystok does not run a night service and is not an NFZ emergency dental care centre. The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 20:00 and on Saturdays from 8:00 to 16:00, and is closed on Sundays; reception: 85 748 00 50. In the clinic’s price list, the item “Wizyta z bólem” (visit in pain) costs 340 zł and includes a panoramic X-ray, a consultation, an examination and pain relief; the final scope and cost are set by the dentist after the examination, and prices may change. When inflammation is too acute for local anaesthesia to work, treatment under general anaesthesia is decided at a combined dental and anaesthesiology consultation.
